35. On 15 January 2012, President Bashar Al-Assad issued a legislative decree granting a general amnesty for crimes perpetrated in the context of the events from 15 March 2011 through to the issuance of the decree.
35 - بتاريخ 15/1/2012، أصدر السيد الرئيس بشار الأسد مرسوماً تشريعياً منح بمقتضاه عفواً عاما عن الجرائم المرتكبة على خلفية الأحداث التي وقعت منذ 15/3/2011 وحتى تاريخ صدور هذا المرسوم.

During the recent visit of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Damascus, President Bashar Al-Assad assured him that Syria had taken all the necessary measures to prevent smuggling of weapons across the border, including the deployment of an entire border guard division along the Syrian-Lebanese border to ensure more effective control.
لقد أكد السيد الرئيس بشار الأسد للأمين العام للأمم المتحدة أثناء زيارته الأخيرة لدمشق أن سورية اتخذت كل الإجراءات الضرورية لمنع تهريب الأسلحة عبر الحدود، بما في ذلك عبر نشر فرقة كاملة من حرس الحدود على طول الحدود السورية - اللبنانية لضمان مراقبة أكثر فعالية.

President Bashar Al-Assad recently said that the Israelis must understand that genuine, lasting peace is more beneficial than any transitory situation, and that the price of such peace will be far lower than the cost of occupation and aggression, which cannot continue.
لقد ذكر السيد الرئيس بشار الأسد مؤخرا، " ينبغي على الإسرائيليين أن يعلموا أن السلام الحقيقي الذي يستمر هو أكثر جدوى من كل ما عداه من أوضاع لا تدوم، وأن كلفته أقل بمئات المرات من كلفة الاحتلال والعدوان اللذين لا يمكن أن يبقيا أبدا " .

Syria is an essential part of the solutions sought by the peoples of the region, by virtue of its geographic location and the aspirations of its people. For that reason, President Bashar Al-Assad took the initiative to convene the Damascus Quartet Summit, attended by President Sarkozy of France, the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, and the Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Turkey.

On the basis of the firm Syrian policy, the President of Lebanon, Michel Sleiman, visited the Syrian Arab Republic on 13 and 14 August 2008, at the invitation of President Bashar Al-Assad, the President of the most recent Arab summit, with a view to positively promoting Syrian-Lebanese relations and put them on the right track.
3 - وانطلاقا من ثوابت السياسة السورية، جاءت زيارة الرئيس ميشيل سليمان رئيس الجمهورية اللبنانية إلى سورية يومي 13 و 14 آب/أغسطس 2008، بدعوة من السيد الرئيس بشار الأسد رئيس الجمهورية العربية السورية، الرئيس الدوري للقمة العربية، لتعطي دفعة إيجابية للعلاقات السورية اللبنانية، ولوضعها في الاتجاه الصحيح.
