In other words, the OAU peace proposals are not meant to provide a basis for further negotiation, but rather a basis for resolving the crisis created by Eritrean aggression.

إن هذه اﻷدلة وغيرها من مجموعة اﻷدلة الضخمة هي التي اضطرت لجنة السفراء لتقصي الحقائق التابعة لمنظمة الوحدة اﻷفريقية إلى أن تخلص إلى استنتاج مفاده أن بادم كانت تحت اﻹدارة اﻹثيوبية حتى العدوان اﻹريتري.

While the facts were thus clear to the Security Council, it did not, as it had done previously in comparable instances, condemn the Eritrean aggression and it chose not ask Eritrea to withdraw from occupied Ethiopian territory.
وبينما كانت الحقائق واضحة أمام مجلس اﻷمن، لم يقم، مثلما فعل في حالات مشابهة بإدانة العدوان اﻹريتري واختار ألا يطلب من إريتريا الانسحاب من اﻷرض اﻹثيوبية المحتلة.

In the meantime, the Eritrean authorities were being emboldened to persist in their intransigence, including by the Security Council's lukewarm response to the challenge posed by the Eritrean aggression.
وفي الوقت نفسه، تجاسرت السلطات اﻹريترية على التمادي في تصلبها، ﻷسباب من بينها الرد الفاتر من جانب مجلس اﻷمن على التحدي الذي شكله العدوان اﻹريتري.

1. To condemn the Eritrean aggression against Ethiopia;

It is in the light of this that Ethiopia has been deeply disappointed for some time by the reaction of the Security Council to the Eritrean aggression which has failed to reflect any sympathy for the victim of this unlawful act and breach of the peace.
وفي ضوء ذلك، فقد تملك إثيوبيا لبعض الوقت الشعور بخيبة أمل بالغة بسبب رد مجلس اﻷمن على العدوان اﻹريتري الذي خلا من أدنى درجات التعاطف مع ضحية هذا العمل غير المشروع وذلك الخرق للسلام.

It was also because we chose to protect these programmes which are dear to us that we decided to exercise maximum patience for close to nine months after the Eritrean aggression, and in the face of the occupation of part of our sovereign territory.
وﻷننا اخترنا حماية تلك البرامج العزيزة علينا، فقد قررنا التحلي بأقصى درجات الصبر ﻷكثر من تسعة أشهر بعد العدوان اﻹريتري وفي مواجهة احتلال جزء من أرضنا ذات السيادة.
