The working paper submitted by the Russian Federation, entitled " Fundamentals of the legal basis for United Nations peacekeeping operations in the context of Chapter VI of the Charter of the United Nations " warranted continued consideration and the Special Committee was the most appropriate body to discuss the issue.

The Special Committee was the appropriate body to examine the basic legal aspects of such operations.
