In the light of article 14 of the Convention, the Committee is concerned that restrictions on the freedom to manifest one's religion, particularly Islam, do not comply with the requirements outlined in article 14, paragraph 3.

4. Violations of the freedom to manifest one's religion or belief

Furthermore, freedom to manifest one's religion or belief may be subject only to such limitations as are prescribed by law and are necessary to protect public safety, order, health or morals or the fundamental rights and freedoms of others.

108. The fourth category of violations comprises policies, laws and regulations, practices and acts constituting controls, interference, prohibitions and restrictions on freedom to manifest one's religion or belief.
