The Human Rights Committee has further clarified that article 26 encompasses the prohibition of discrimination in law or in practice in any field regulated and protected by public authorities, whether the legislation related to an article in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights or any other area, including a right under the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.
