In the context of the Presidential Statement (S/PRST/1997/46) adopted by the Ministerial Meeting of the Security Council on Africa on 25 September 1997, and the 1 November 1995 report of the Secretary-General on Improving Preparedness for Conflict Prevention and Peacekeeping in Africa (S/1995/911-A/50/711), the Secretariat is convening a meeting on enhancing African capacity for peacekeeping.
