As noted in my last report, the Moroccan authorities have confirmed Morocco's preparedness to implement fully the provisions of the settlement plan relating to the reduction of Moroccan troops in the Territory once the start of the transitional period has been determined.
وكما أشرت في تقريري اﻷخير، أكدت السلطات المغربية استعداد المغرب لتنفيذ كامل أحكام خطة التسوية المتصلة بخفض القوات المغربية في اﻹقليم بمجرد تحديد تاريخ بدء المرحلة الانتقالية.

Should the Security Council decide, on the basis of my next report, that D-Day will be on 1 October 1994, I will then recommend that the reduction of Moroccan forces in the Territory should be completed not later than 15 December 1994.
وإذا ما قرر مجلس اﻷمن، بناء على تقريري التالي، أن يبدأ اليوم ياء في ١ تشرين اﻷول/أكتوبر ١٩٩٤، سأوصي عندئذ بإتمام تخفيض القوات المغربية في اﻹقليم في موعد لا يتجاوز ١٥ كانون اﻷول/ديسمبر ١٩٩٤.

In his report to the Security Council of 18 June 1990 (S/21360), the then Secretary-General proposed a Settlement Plan, which provided for a cease-fire and the beginning of the transitional period, a reduction in the number of Moroccan troops in the Territory and confinement of the combatants of both sides to locations designated by the Special Representative of the Secretary-General.
وكان اﻷمين العام السابق قد اقترح في تقريره الى مجلس اﻷمن المؤرخ ١٨ حزيران/يونيه ١٩٩٠ (S/21360) خطة للتسوية، تنص على وقف ﻹطلاق النار وبدء فترة انتقالية وخفض لعدد القوات المغربية في اﻹقليم واقتصار وجود المقاتلين من الجانبين على المواقع التي يحددها الممثل الخاص لﻷمين العام.

Accordingly, the reduction of Moroccan forces in the Territory is expected to be completed by 22 August 1998 and all those remaining, with the exceptions mentioned in the plan (S/21360, para. 56), would be confined by that date, with due account taken of the modalities and time required for the repatriation phase described in the present report.
وتبعا لذلك، من المتوقع اكتمال تخفيض القوات المغربية في اﻹقليم بحلول ٢٢ آب/أغسطس ١٩٩٨، وأن يتم إبقاء القوات المتبقية في معسكراتها، مع الاستثناءات المذكورة في الخطة )S/21360، الفقرة ٥٦(، بحلول ذلك التاريخ، مع إيلاء الاعتبار الواجب للطرائق المناسبة والوقت اللازم لمرحلة اﻹعادة إلى الوطن المعروضة في هذا التقرير.
