The United Nations Development Group Executive Committee (composed of representatives of the United Nations Development Programme, the United Nations Children's Fund, the World Food Programme and the United Nations Population Fund) is working to introduce the new programming tools listed below for five country programmes in 2003, with the aim of expanding their use to more than 80 country programmes by 2006.

There was also potential for enhancing mutual cooperation between the relevant organizations by establishing linkages between the respective commissions and the newly created United Nations Development Group Executive Committee arrangement for periodic meetings of their Directors of Regional Bureaux (UNDP, UNICEF, UNFPA and WFP).
