B. Study of possible options for lasting and sustainable financial mechanisms

At its first meeting, the Conference of the Parties to the Rotterdam Convention requested the Secretariat to conduct a study of possible options for lasting and sustainable financial mechanisms that would enable developing countries to implement the provisions of the Convention adequately.
1 - طلب مؤتمر الأطراف في اتفاقية روتردام في اجتماعه الأول إلى الأمانة إجراء دراسة للخيارات المحتملة للآليات المالية الدائمة والمستدامة التي تمكن البلدان النامية من تنفيذ أحكام الاتفاقية بصورة وافية.

At its second meeting, the Conference of the Parties requested the Secretariat to examine in more detail the options for lasting and sustainable financial mechanisms set forth in document UNEP/FAO/RC/COP.2/10, which would enable developing countries to implement adequately the provisions of the Convention, and to report on its findings to the Conference of the Parties at its third meeting.
28 - في اجتماعه الثاني طلب مؤتمر الأطراف من الأمانة القيام بإجراء دراسة تفصيلية للخيارات المتعلقة بالآليات المالية الدائمة والمستدامة والواردة في الوثيقة UNEP/FAO/RC/COP.2/10 التي تمكن البلدان النامية من تنفيذ بنود الاتفاقية علي نحو كاف، مع تقديم تقرير بالنتائج إلى مؤتمر الأطراف في اجتماعه الثالث.

Introducing the sub-item, the representative of the Secretariat reviewed the actions taken by the Secretariat with regard to the implementation of decision RC-4/8 on progress made towards the implementation of decision RC-3/5 on possible options for lasting and sustainable financial mechanisms.
103- استعرض ممثل الأمانة، لدى تقديمه للبند الفرعي، الإجراءات التي اتخذتها الأمانة من أجل تنفيذ المقرر ا ر - 4/8 بشأن التقدم المحقق نحو تنفيذ المقرر ا ر - 3/5 بشأن الخيارات الممكنة من أجل الآليات المالية الدائمة والمستدامة.

To obtain a better overview of progress made in developing a strategic, multifaceted approach to securing lasting and sustainable financial resources for the effective implementation of the Convention, Parties might also be encouraged to report back to the Conference of the Parties on follow-up to decision RC-3/5.
10 - ومن الممكن أيضاً، بغية الحصول على نظرة عامة أفضل عن التقدم المحقق في وضع نهج استراتيجي متعدد الأوجه لكفالة الموارد المالية الدائمة والمستدامة من أجل التنفيذ الفعال للاتفاقية، أن تشجع الأطراف على تقديم تقارير إلى مؤتمر الأطراف بشأن متابعة مقرر اتفاقية روتردام - 3/5.

At its second meeting, the Conference of the Parties considered a study (UNEP/FAO/RC/COP.2/10), prepared in response to the request in decision RC-1/5, on the possible options for lasting and sustainable financial mechanisms which will enable developing countries to implement adequately the provisions of the Convention.
1 - نظر مؤتمر الأطراف في اجتماعه الثاني في دراسة (UNEP/FAO/RC/COP.2/10)، أُعدت استجابة للطلب الوارد في مقرر اتفاقية روتردام - 1/5 بشأن الخيارات المحتملة للآليات المالية الدائمة والمستدامة التي ستمكن البلدان النامية من تنفيذ أحكام الاتفاقية بشكل واف.

(d) A clear understanding of the options and guidance to the secretariat on further work, if any, on lasting and sustainable financial mechanisms which will enable developing countries and countries with economies in transition to implement adequately the provisions of the Convention;
(د) تفهم واضح للخيارات والإرشادات المقدمة للأمانة بخصوص ما يستجد من أعمال، في حالة توافرها، بشأن الآليات المالية الدائمة والمستدامة التي تمكن البلدان النامية والبلدان التي تمر اقتصاداتها بمرحلة انتقالية من تنفيذ أحكام الاتفاقية بصورة كافية؛

The representative of the Secretariat drew attention to additional documents that informed this portion of the discussion, including one on the implementation of the relevant decisions of the Conference of the Parties to the Basel Convention and its related information document, and another on the follow-up to decision RC-5/11 on progress made in the implementation of decision RC-3/5 on options for lasting and sustainable financial mechanisms.
