11 - وقد تم اتخاذ عدد من المبادرات العربية واقتُرحت في مختلف منتديات نزع السلاح المتعددة الأطراف عشرات القرارات بشأن إنشاء منطقة خالية من الأسلحة النووية في الشرق الأوسط.

As you are aware, several Arab initiatives led to the adoption by the General Assembly, at its fiftyninth session, of resolutions 59/63 and 59/106.
وكما تعلمون فإن هذه المبادرات العربية قد أدت إلى مصادقة الجمعية العامة في دورتها التاسعة والخمسين على القرارين 59/63 و59/106 الخاصين بهذه المسألة.

The Arab leaders express their great distress at the international community's delay in responding to Arab initiatives aimed at making the Middle East a zone free of weapons of mass destruction, and in particular free of nuclear weapons, despite the support those initiatives have received in many United Nations resolutions.
يُعرب القادة عن القلق الشديد من تأخر تجاوب المجتمع الدولي مع المبادرات العربية الداعية لجعل منطقة الشرق الأوسط منطقة خالية من أسلحة الدمار الشامل وعلى رأسها الأسلحة النووية، رغم الدعم الذي لقيته في العديد من القرارات الدولية.

In this respect, we should like to recall the many Arab initiatives that have been launched, the most recent being the initiative which Syria presented to the Security Council on behalf of the Arab group in December 2003. The initiative, which takes the form of a draft resolution on making the Middle East a zone free of weapons of mass destruction, particularly nuclear weapons, is still in blue on the Security Council table.
وفي هذا الإطار لا بد من الإشارة إلى المبادرات العربية العديدة وآخرها تلك التي تقدمت بها سوريا، باسم المجموعة العربية، إلى مجلس الأمن في شهر كانون الأول/ديسمبر عام 2003، والمتمثلة في مشروع قرار يهدف إلى جعل الشرق الأوسط منطقة خالية من أسلحة الدمار الشامل وفي مقدمتها الأسلحة النووية.

Israel's intransigence, with political cover from influential Powers, had blocked repeated Arab initiatives to rid the Middle East of nuclear weapons, most recently during the debate surrounding the agenda item on Israel's nuclear capabilities at the fiftieth session of the 2006 IAEA General Conference.
45 - ومضى يقول إن تعنت إسرائيل، بتغطية سياسية من الدول الكبرى ذات نفوذ، قد أعاق المبادرات العربية المتكررة لتخليص الشرق الأوسط من الأسلحة النووية، كما حدث مؤخرا أثناء النقاش حول بند جدول الأعمال المعني بإمكانيات إسرائيل النووية في الدورة الخمسين للمؤتمر العام للوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية عام 2006.

In this respect, we should like to mention the many Arab initiatives that have been launched, the most recent being the initiative which Syria submitted to the Security Council on behalf of the Arab Group in December 2003.
وفي هذا الإطار، لا بد من الإشارة إلى المبادرات العربية العديدة وآخرها تلك التي تقدمت بها سوريا باسم المجموعة العربية إلى مجلس الأمن في شهر كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2003 وهي المبادرة المتمثلة في مشروع قرار يهدف إلى جعل الشرق الأوسط منطقة خالية من أسلحة الدمار الشامل وفي مقدمتها السلاح النووي.

2. A number of Arab initiatives on the establishment of a nuclear-weapon-free zone in the Middle East have been submitted to various international forums but, regrettably, despite the support of the international community for these Arab initiatives, no real or practical steps have been taken at the international level to give effect to them.
2 - وقد تم تقديم عدد من المبادرات العربية المتعلقة بإنشاء منطقة خالية من الأسلحة النووية في الشرق الأوسط في مختلف المحافل الدولية ذات الصلة، ولكن من المؤسف أنه برغم الدعم الدولي الذي حظيت به تلك المبادرات العربية، لم تتخذ أي خطوات عملية حقيقية على المستوى الدولي سعيا وراء تنفيذها.

This is in keeping with the spirit of Security Council resolution 687 (1991), article 14 of which calls for the establishment of a nuclearfree zone in the Middle East, and with the resolutions adopted by the General Assembly and sponsored by the Arab Group every year. As you know, these Arab initiatives led the General Assembly to adopt, at its fiftyninth session, resolution 59/63 and resolution 59/106 on this subject.
وهذا طبقاً لروح قرار مجلس الأمن رقم 687 لسنة 1991 الذي يرمي في بنده الرابع عشر إلى جعل منطقة الشرق الأوسط منطقة خالية من أسلحة الدمار الشامل، وكذلك القرارات التي تصادق عليها الجمعية العامة سنوياً بمبادرة من المجموعة العربية في هذا الشأن، وكما تعلمون فإن هذه المبادرات العربية قد أدت إلى مصادقة الجمعية العامة في دورتها التاسعة والخمسين على القرارين 63/59 و106/59 الخاصين بهذه المسألة.

In this regard, we would like to refer to the numerous Arab initiatives, that have been launched, the most recent being the draft resolution which Syria submitted to the Security Council in January 2003 on behalf of the Arab Group. The draft resolution, which aims at making the Middle East an area free of all weapons of mass destruction, particularly nuclear weapons, is still before the Security Council.
وفي هذا الإطار لا بد من الإشارة إلى المبادرات العربية العديدة وآخرها تلك التي تقدمت بها سوريا، باسم المجموعة العربية، إلى مجلس الأمن في شهر كانون الأول/ديسمبر عام 2003، والمتمثلة في مشروع قرار يهدف إلى جعل الشرق الأوسط منطقة خالية من أسلحة الدمار الشامل وفي مقدمتها الأسلحة النووية وهو مشروع ما زال مطروحاً أمام مجلس الأمن.

(g) Support the existing trend in the Arab world for the development and establishment of information networks and data to support sustainable development decision-making processes and support and take advantage of Arab initiatives in this area that benefit decision-making, including the Abu Dhabi Environmental Data Initiative " Eye on Earth " ;
(ز) دعم الاتجاه الحالي في العالم العربي لتطوير وإنشاء شبكات للمعلومات والبيانات الداعمة لعمليات صنع القرارات المتعلقة بالتنمية المستدامة وتقديم الدعم والاستفادة من المبادرات العربية في هذا المجال الذي يفيد عملية صنع القرار، بما في ذلك مبادرة أبو ظبي للبيانات البيئية التي تحمل اسم ' ' عين على الأرض``؛
