ويحدد القانون 10/2008 المتعلق بانتخاب أعضاء الهيئات التشريعية الإقليمية حصة دنيا للنساء كمرشحات للانتخابات التشريعية.

Article 14 of the 2003 Law on Elections of Members of People's Councils stipulates that the Standing Board of the People's Councils at provincial, district and communal levels propose the structure, component and number of members of People's Councils, which guarantee a rational proportion of female members.
وتنص المادة 14 من قانون عام 2003 المتعلق بانتخاب أعضاء المجالس الشعبية على أن المجلس الإداري الدائم للمجالس الشعبية على مستوى المحافظات والمناطق والكوميونات يقترح هيكل المجالس الشعبية وتكوينها وعدد أعضائها، يحيث يكفل وجود نسبة معقولة فيها من النواب الإناث.

At the 3rd plenary meeting, on 3 April, the President informed the Conference that she was pursuing her consultations on the rules of procedure, and that she proposed to take up that item, as well as the item on election of other officers of subsidiary bodies, as soon as her consultations were completed.

The Constitution and the Law on Elections of Members of the National Assembly (NA) provide that all Lao citizens aged 18 years and above without discrimination on gender, ethnicity, belief, social status, origins, employment have the right to vote and those aged 21 and above have the right to run for election to the National Assembly.
34- وينص كل من الدستور والقانون المتعلق بانتخاب أعضاء الجمعية الوطنية على أن لجميع مواطني لاو، دون تمييز بسبب الجنس أو العرق أو المعتقد أو الوضع الاجتماعي أو الأصل أو الوظيفة، الحق في الانتخاب للبالغين 18 عاماً فأكثر والحق في الترشح لعضوية الجمعية الوطنية للبالغين 21 عاماً فأكثر.
