We cannot but be excited by the General Assembly's reaffirmation that the Olympic Ideal is to promote international understanding among the youth of the world, through sport and culture, in order to advance the harmonious development of humankind, and by the recognition that the Olympic Ideal is relevant to the United Nations Year for Tolerance, which is being commemorated in 1995.
ولا يسعنا إلا أن نشعر بالغبطة لتأكيد الجمعيــة العامة من جديد أن المثل اﻷعلى اﻷولمبي يعزز التفاهــم الدولي بين شباب العالم عن طريق الرياضة والثقافة بغية النهوض بالتنمية المتسقة للبشرية ومن خلال الاعتــراف بأن للمثل اﻷعلى اﻷولمبي أهميته بالنسبة لسنة اﻷمم المتحدة للتسامح التي يحتفــل بهــا عام ١٩٩٥.

There can be no doubt that the Olympic Ideal contributes to this end and that the call for an Olympic Truce, in which all hostilities must cease during the Games, is an objective worth supporting, to mobilize not only youth around the globe in the cause of peace but, through them, all humankind.
ولا شك أن المثل اﻷعلى اﻷولمبي يساهم في تحقيق هذا وأن النداء من أجل مراعاة هدنة أولمبية، بوقف جميع اﻷعمال العدائية خلال اﻷلعاب اﻷولمبية، هدف جدير بالتأييد ليس فحسب من أجل تعبئة جهود الشباب في كل أنحاء العالم من أجل قضية السلام بل أيضا، من خلالهم، من أجل تعبئة البشرية جمعاء من أجل قضية السلام.

In conclusion, I would like to call on Member States of the United Nations to do their utmost so that, on the eve of the hundredth anniversary of the revival of the Olympic Games, we can achieve, to the maximum extent, the realization of the Olympic Ideal, in the interests of peace, security and the harmonious development of humanity.
وأود في الختام أن أدعو الدول اﻷعضاء في اﻷمم المتحدة الى أن تبذل قصارى جهدها حتى نستطيع عشية الذكرى المئوية لانبعاث اﻷلعاب اﻷولمبية أن نحقق المثل اﻷعلى اﻷولمبي الى أقصى قدر ممكن لصالح السلام واﻷمن والنمو المتسق لﻹنسانية.

Ukraine became a cosponsor of the draft resolution entitled “the Olympic Ideal” because we consider that all its provisions tally completely with the interests of our country and lay solid foundations for further consolidating international peace and security in the spirit of the principles of the Charter of the United Nations and the aims of the Olympic Movement.
وقد انضمت أوكرانيا الى مقدمي مشروع القرار المعنون " المثل اﻷعلى اﻷولمبي " ﻷننا نعتبر أن أحكامه كلها تتفق تماما مع مصالح بلدي وترسي أساسا متينا لمزيد من تعزيز السلام واﻷمن بروح من مبادئ ميثاق اﻷمم المتحدة وأهداف الحركة اﻷولمبية.
