As a continuation of the cooperation efforts of the United Nations system and the IPU, we welcome the initiative of the 163rd session of the Inter-Parliamentary Council to convene a conference of presiding officers of national parliaments at the United Nations in the year 2000, in conjunction with the Millennium Assembly.
