173. Although the Committee is aware of the long tradition of in-community care for children deprived of a family environment, it expresses its concern at the insufficient number of care centres for abandoned boys and the absence of facilities for abandoned girls.
173- ورغم إدراك اللجنة لوجود تقليد قديم هو رعاية الأطفال المحرومين من بيئة أسرية في داخل المجتمع المحلي، تعرب اللجنة عن قلقها إزاء وجود عدد غير كاف من مراكز الرعاية للأطفال المهجورين وعدم وجود مرافق للفتيات المهجورات.

The Committee expresses concern at the increasing number of children deprived of a family environment and at the absence of a distinction between children in need of special protection and child offenders in legal proceedings.

67. The Committee expresses its serious concern about the number of children, in particular children from poor families, who are deprived of a family environment and placed in public assistance institutions or residential homes, often far from their home.
67- وتعرب اللجنة عن قلقها الشديد إزاء عدد الأطفال، وبخاصة أطفال الأسر الفقيرة، المحرومين من بيئة أسرية والمودعين في مؤسسات للمساعدة العامة أو في دور رعاية تبعد في حالات كثيرة عن مساكنهم.

Accommodation for children with other foster families as an alternative form of care for children deprived of a family environment has proved a very efficient form of protection for vulnerable children, therefore it is preferred in all reform options in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

31. While noting that the principle of the best interests of the child is taken into account in most of the State party's legislation, the Committee is concerned that the principle is not adequately applied in situations concerning children deprived of a family environment.
