In 2007, CEDAW expressed general concern about the persistence of discriminatory stereotypes, cultural practices and traditions of a patriarchal nature relating to the roles and responsibilities of women and men in the family and in society, as they constitute serious obstacles to women's educational and professional prospects and the enjoyment of their human rights and contribute to the persistence of violence against women.
23- أعربت لجنة القضاء على التمييز ضد المرأة عن شاغل عام يتعلق باستمرار وجود نماذج نمطية وممارسات وتقاليد ثقافية تمييزية، ذات طبيعة أبوية، تتعلق بأدوار ومسؤوليات المرأة والرجل في الأسرة وفي المجتمع، إذ إن هذه جميعها تشكل عقبات في وجه طموحات المرأة التعليمية والمهنية، وفي وجه تمتعها بحقوقها الإنسانية، وتسهم في استمرار ممارسة العنف ضد المرأة(45).
