She hoped that the Special Adviser on Gender Issues and Advancement of Women and the Focal Point for Women would continue to study the issue in close cooperation with the Office of Human Resources Management and that the Committee would take steps to ensure equal opportunity for all staff members of all nationalities in the General Service category.
وأعربت عن أملها في أن تستمر المستشارة الخاصة للقضايا المتعلقة بنوع الجنس وشعبة النهوض بالمرأة ومنسقة شؤون المرأة في دراسة هذه القضية في ظل تعاون وثيق مع إدارة الموارد البشرية، وفي أن تتخذ اللجنة الخطوات اللازمة لكفالة تساوي الفرص أمام كافة الموظفين من جميع الجنسيات في فئة الخدمات العامة.

1. At its thirty-seventh session, the Committee for Programme and Coordination (CPC) requested that an in-depth evaluation of the advancement of women programme be undertaken in 2000.1 The present report focuses mainly on assessing the work of the Office of the Special Adviser on Gender Issues and the Division for the Advancement of Women (subprogramme 28.2 of the medium-term plan for the period 1998-2001).

The second option was to consolidate the four gender-specific United Nations entities (Office of the Special Adviser on Gender Issues and the Advancement of Women - OSAGI; the Division for the Advancement of Women - DAW; the United Nations Fund for Women - UNIFEM; and the United Nations International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women - INSTRAW).

7.12 The Office of the Special Adviser on Gender Issues and Advancement of Women and the Division for the Advancement of Women will pursue the above objectives through a strategy that will build on providing effective support to intergovernmental bodies, integrating policy advisory services into the overall programme of work and expanding interaction and communication with civil society.
