At the first session of the Open-ended Working Group, held from 28 April to 2 May 2003, the group was informed by the Secretariat that, with regard to the review of scientific information on the disposal of PVC and PVC-coated cables, the status of work within the Convention could be summarized as follows:

Several Parties reported on plans and programmes that have the objective of developing scientific information on climate and on GHG emissions and of strengthening the capacity of institutions to address the scientific aspects of climate change.
