In part through the catalytic support pursuant to the recommendation of the Commission on Information and Accountability for Women's and Children's Health, more than 25 countries have conducted comprehensive assessments and developed a strategic plan, and another dozen countries are in the process of doing so.

The Commission on Information and Accountability for Women's and Children's Health provides recommendations for improved tracking of commitments under the Global Strategy for Women's and Children's Health and issued 10 recommendations, which underpin the accountability framework of the Every Woman Every Child movement.

23. Encourages Member States to consider implementing the recommendations of the Commission on Information and Accountability for Women's and Children's Health to strengthen information on reproductive, maternal and child health, to track resources for women's and children's health and to strengthen oversight and transparency;

The work that has followed on from that Global Strategy, including through the recommendations of the Commission on Information and Accountability for Women's and Children's Health, and the work of the independent Expert Review Group on Accountability for Women's and Children's Health, has continued to emphasize that maternal health cannot be treated solely as a public health issue but must be understood as a human rights concern.

6. Draft resolution A (A/63/21, chapter IV) of the Committee on Information reaffirmed the commitment of the international community to the principles of freedom of the press and of information, as well as to those of the independence, pluralism, diversity of the media and urged all States to ensure for journalists the free and effective performance of their professional tasks.
6 - وأشار إلى أن مشروع القرار ألف (A/63/21 ، الفصل الرابع) للجنة المعنية بالإعلام يؤكد من جديد التزام المجتمع الدولي بمبدأي حرية الصحافة وحرية الإعلام، وبالمبادئ المتمثلة في استقلال وسائط الإعلام وتعدديتها وتنوعها. و يحث جميع الدول على أن تكفل للصحفيين أداءهم لمهامهم المهنية بحرية وفعالية.
