A balance should be maintained among the various rights, and it was important to ensure that sufficient resources would be provided to the unit on the right to development.

C. Stocktaking and analysis of previous working groups on the right to development

a. Substantive servicing of meetings on the right to development (2);

3. Requests the high-level task force on the right to development to meet for a period of five working days before the end of 2006 with a view to implementing the relevant recommendations contained in the report of the seventh session of the Working Group;
3- يطلب إلى فرقة العمل الرفيعة المستوى المعنية بالحق في التنمية أن تجتمع لمدة خمسة أيام عمل قبل نهاية عام 2006 بغية تنفيذ التوصيات ذات الصلة الواردة في تقرير الفريق العامل عن دورته السابعة؛

In addition, efforts could be made to ensure that the High-level Task Force on the right to development and the High-level Plenary Meeting on the Millennium Development Goals to be held in September 2010 include a human rights approach to the Goals, so as to assist the High Commissioner in her efforts.

In 2005, it had requested the High-level Task Force on the right to development to examine Millennium Development Goal 8 and to suggest criteria for its periodic evaluation (E/CN.4/2005/25, para. 54 (i)).

The intergovernmental process on the right to development was not conducive to civil society participation; peoples and indigenous peoples vested with the right to self-determination must have a higher level of participation and it should be inclusive, involving non-Economic and Social Council NGOs and all peoples.
ولا تؤدي العملية الحكومية الدولية المعنية بالحق في التنمية إلى مشاركة المجتمع المدني؛ ويجب أن يكون للشعوب والسكان الأصليين الذين يمنحون الحق في تقرير المصير مستوى أعلى من المشاركة، وينبغي أن تكون هذه المشاركة جامعة، تشمل المنظمات غير الحكومية التي لا تحظى بمركز المراقب لدى المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي وجميع الشعوب.
