18. The CHAIRPERSON expressed disappointment at the fact that, although it had issued an in-depth recommendation on the subject, the Committee had been excluded from the world-wide debate, and from expert group meetings, on violence against women.

16. Requests the Secretary-General to report to the General Assembly at its fiftieth session on the implementation of the present resolution, including, in particular, on the report of the Special Rapporteur of the Commission on Human Rights on violence against women.
١٦ - تطلب إلى اﻷمين العام أن يقدم إلى الجمعية العامة في دورتها الخمسين، تقريرا عن تنفيذ هذا القرار، يتضمن بصفة خاصة تقرير المقررة الخاصة للجنة حقوق اﻹنسان المعنية بالعنف الموجه ضد المرأة.

As violence against women was often a hidden crime, his Department had attempted to raise public awareness of the issue through, inter alia, an advertising campaign on the national television and radio stations in conjunction with the National Steering Committee on violence against women.

16. In its resolution 49/166, entitled " Traffic in women and girls " , the General Assembly drew the attention of the Special Rapporteur on violence against women and the Working Group on Contemporary Forms of Slavery of the Sub-Commission on Prevention of Discrimination and Protection of Minorities to the problem of trafficking in women and girl children.
