1. The Second Meeting of the Expert Group on International Classifications was convened in New York from 24 to 26 June 1996 at the request of the Statistical Commission, based on the recommendation of the Expert Group at its first meeting, in 1994.

1. The Statistical Commission, at its twenty-eighth session, endorsed the work programme of the Expert Group on International Classifications (E/CN.3/1995/16) and recommended:
١ - وافقت اللجنة اﻹحصائية في دورتها الثامنة والعشرين على برنامج عمل فريق الخبراء المعني بالتصنيفات الدولية )61/5991/3.NC/E( وأوصت بما يلي:

The Secretary-General has the honour to transmit to the Statistical Commission the report of the Expert Group on International Classifications which was convened from 6 to 8 December 1994 to examine the present status of the work on International Classifications and to make recommendations concerning future directions.
يتشرف اﻷمين العام بأن يحيل الى اللجنة الاحصائية تقرير فريق الخبراء المعني بالتصنيفات الدولية الذي انعقد خلال الفترة من ٦ الى ٨ كانون اﻷول/ديسمبر ١٩٩٤ لدراسة الحالة الراهنة للعمل في التصنيفات الدولية وتقديم توصيات بشأن الاتجاهات المستقبلية.

To move in that direction, the Expert Group on International Classifications recommended that UNSTAT convene an Expert Group on Classifications in the second quarter of 1995 to consider three topics and make further recommendations on the basis of papers to be prepared on those topics.
٤ - وللتحرك في ذلك الاتجاه، أوصى فريق الخبراء المعني بالتصنيفات الدولية الشعبة الاحصائية باﻷمانة العامة لﻷمم المتحدة بعقد دورة لفريق خبراء معني بالتصنيفات في الربع الثاني من عام ١٩٩٥ للنظر في ثلاثة مواضيع والتقدم بتوصيات جديدة عن اﻷساس الذي ستستند إليه الورقات التي ستُقدم بشأن تلك المواضيع.
