Philippe Douste-Blazy, Special Adviser to the Secretary-General on Innovative Financing for Development, expressed concern that, while the negative impacts of the financial and economic crisis, which had originated in the developed world, deeply affected people in developing countries, those same countries remained excluded from enjoying the benefits of globalization and the existing international trade framework.
