7. Requests the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime to continue providing technical assistance in order to support and complement national, regional and thematic programmes and activities based on the needs and priorities of Member States in combating transnational organized crime;

Also stresses the importance of strengthening the capacity of affected States to investigate, prosecute, incarcerate and, as appropriate, repatriate and transfer offenders, in accordance with applicable domestic and international law, and requests the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime to continue its ongoing efforts in this regard;

7. Requests the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime to continue providing, in its programmes of technical assistance, measures to enhance the effectiveness of international cooperation, including in relation to offences covered by the Convention, before seeking mutual legal assistance;

Requests the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime to continue to facilitate the exchange of experiences and good practices among Member States with respect to strategies to reduce illicit drug supply and demand and with respect to the international cooperation necessary to promote technical assistance projects and multilateral mechanisms aimed at addressing the world drug problem effectively;

Also requests the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime to continue raising awareness of the negative impact of organized crime, through advocacy campaigns and other measures, including outreach to and partnerships with civil society and the private sector, commends the Office for its public service announcement on organized crime and ongoing media campaign and encourages States parties to support that campaign;

10. Requests the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime to continue supporting central authorities in strengthening communication channels and, as appropriate, in exchanging information at both the regional and international levels, for the purposes of enhancing the effectiveness of cooperation in criminal matters in all its aspects, especially in dealing with requests for mutual legal assistance;

Requests the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime to continue to assist Member States, upon request, in developing comprehensive crime prevention strategies, to address violence related to transnational organized crime, including urban crime, and to continue to support exchange of expertise and good practices, with the support of civil society, as appropriate;

Also requests the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime to continue developing technical assistance tools, in particular in the areas identified by the Working Group on Firearms, in close consultation with Member States and, where appropriate, drawing on the expertise of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) according to its statutory rules;

Urges the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime to continue gathering information on national and international experiences and best practices, to make available information on evidence-based prevention activities and instruments and to provide States with guidance and assistance in developing strategies and programmes to incorporate those successful experiences, upon request and subject to the availability of extrabudgetary resources;
8- تحثُّ مكتبَ الأمم المتحدة المعني بالمخدِّرات والجريمة أن يواصل جمع معلومات عن التجارب والممارسات الفضلى على الصعيدين الوطني والدولي، وأن يُتيح المعلومات المتعلقة بالأنشطة والأدوات الوقائية المستندة إلى شواهد، وأن يُزوِّد الدولَ، عند الطلب ورهناً بتوافر موارد خارجة عن الميزانية، بالإرشاد والمساعدة في صوغ استراتيجيات وبرامج تجسِّد تلك التجارب الناجحة؛

Requests the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime to continue developing technical and methodological tools to assist countries in producing and disseminating accurate and comparable statistics on crime and criminal justice, and to continue providing technical assistance, upon request, to Member States in order to enhance their capacity to collect, analyse and report data on crime and criminal justice;
7- يطلب إلى مكتب الأمم المتحدة المعني بالمخدِّرات والجريمة أن يواصل وضع أدوات تقنية ومنهجية لمساعدة البلدان على إعداد ونشر إحصاءات دقيقة وقابلة للمقارنة عن الجريمة والعدالة الجنائية، وأن يواصل تقديم المساعدة التقنية إلى الدول الأعضاء، بناءً على طلبها، من أجل تعزيز قدرتها على جمع بيانات الجريمة والعدالة الجنائية وتحليلها والإبلاغ بها؛

Also in that resolution, the Commission requested the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime to continue to support the African Union in the implementation of the revised African Union Plan of Action on Drug Control and Crime Prevention (2007-2012) and requested the Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime to report to the Commission, at its fifty-fifth session, on the implementation of the resolution.
