The Conference was organized by the Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact and NGO Forum on Cambodia, with the support of the International Work Group for Indigenous Affairs and the European Commission.

The International Work Group for Indigenous Affairs highlighted the situation of 40 ethnic groups in the North, Siberia and the Far East of Russia, which traditionally use and inhabit about two thirds of Russia's land mass, where most natural resources such as oil, gas, timber, gold and diamonds, are extracted.

The first contains information provided by the International Work Group for Indigenous Affairs, on behalf of the NGO Forum on Cambodia, on the situation regarding lands, territories and natural resources issues vis-à-vis indigenous communities in Cambodia, including recommendations to the Permanent Forum on how to address them.

With regard to the recommendation calling on States to recognize the rights of indigenous peoples and to strengthen their institutions for the promotion and protection of human rights, in 2008 the Indigenous Programme of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation provided support for the project entitled " Mobile law school on the rights of indigenous peoples " of the International Work Group for Indigenous Affairs.
15 - فيما يتعلق بالتوصية التي تطلب من الدول الاعتراف بحقوق الشعوب الأصلية وتمتين مؤسساتها من أجل تعزيز حقوق الإنسان لهذه الشعوب وحمايتها، قدم البرنامج المعني بشؤون الشعوب الأصلية التابع للوكالة الإسبانية للتعاون الإنمائي الدولي الدعم خلال عام 2008 لمشروع " المدرسة المتنقلة للمحامين من أجل حقوق الشعوب الأصلية " التابع للفريق العامل الدولي لشؤون الشعوب الأصلية.
