English Page INTRODUCTION The mandate of the Special Rapporteur on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography was first created in 1990 by the Commission on Human Rights for one year in its resolution 1990/68.

The Holy See had followed with great interest the work of the Special Rapporteur on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography, and it stood ready to offer its solidarity and support.

The exploitation of child labour undoubtedly constitutes a form of the sale of children and Morocco does not believe that the Special Rapporteur assigned by the Commission on Human Rights to update the study previously prepared by Abdelwahab Bouhdiba on this subject in 1981 will deviate from the approach adopted by the Special Rapporteur on the sale of children.

1. At its fifty-first session, the Commission on Human Rights decided, by its resolution 1995/79, to renew for a further period of three years the mandate of the Special Rapporteur on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography.

The working group emphasizes the important role in this respect at the international level, of the Committee on the Rights of the Child, the Special Rapporteur on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography, the Commission on Human Rights and the Sub-Commission on Prevention of Discrimination and Protection of Minorities.

Mr. OTUYELU (Nigeria) said that his delegation had read with interest the report of the Special Rapporteur of the Commission on Human Rights on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography (A/49/478), which underlined the need for all the organizations concerned to coordinate their efforts to provide more effective protection for children.
١ - السيد أوتويلي )نيجيريا(: قال إن وفده قرأ باهتمام تقرير المقرر الخاص للجنة حقوق اﻹنسان المعني بمسائل بيع اﻷطفال وبغاء اﻷطفال واستخدام اﻷطفال في انتاج المواد اﻹباحية )A/49/478(، الذي أبرز ضرورة قيام جميع المنظمات المعنية بتنسيق جهودها لتوفير حماية فعالة بقدر أكبر لﻷطفال.

In his interim report (A/49/478), on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography, the Special Rapporteur of the Commission on Human Rights stressed the international community's indifference to the tragic situation of children affected by such practices throughout the world.
وأضافت أن المقرر الخاص للجنة حقوق اﻹنسان المعني بمسائل بيع اﻷطفال وبغاء اﻷطفال واستخدام اﻷطفال في إنتاج المواد اﻹباحية، يشهد في تقريره المؤقت (A/48/478) على عدم الاكتراث الذي يواجه به المجتمع الدولي مأساة اﻷطفال الذين يخضعون لهذه الممارسات في كل أنحاء العالم تقريبا.
