A number of these activities will be carried out in cooperation with IDEP. Activities

The main recommendations of the evaluation report coincided fully with the objective of the JIU report for the future of IDEP. Specifically, it stated that:

141. Several delegations stressed the need to ensure that the African Institute for Economic Development and Planning (IDEP) and the United Nations African Institute for the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders (UNAFRI) received adequate resources for implementing their programmes.
٤١١ - وأكدت وفود عديدة على ضرورة ضمان حصول المعهد الافريقي للتنمية الاقتصادية والتخطيط ومعهد اﻷمم المتحدة الافريقي لمنع الجريمة ومعاملة المجرمين على الموارد الكافية لتنفيذ برامجهما.

7. At the 43rd meeting, on 3 December, the representative of Algeria introduced a draft decision entitled " African Institute for Economic Development and Planning " (A/C.2/48/L.51), which read:
٧ - في الجلسة ٤٣ المعقودة في ٣ كانون اﻷول/ديسمبر، عرض ممثل الجزائر مشروع مقرر معنون " المعهد الافريقي للتنمية الاقتصادية والتخطيط " (A/C.2/48/L.51) ، فيما يلي نصه:

4. Urgently appeals to the General Assembly to consider the possibility of converting, within existing resources, the grant provided to the African Institute for Economic Development and Planning to establish core posts in the regular budget, as called for by the Economic and Social Council in its resolutions 1992/51 of 31 July 1992 and 1993/68 of 30 July 1993;
٤ - يناشد على وجه الاستعجال الجمعية العامة أن تنظر في القيام، في حدود الموارد القائمة، بتحويل المنحة المقدمة الى المعهد الافريقي للتنمية الاقتصادية والتخطيط الى وظائف أساسية ثابتة في الميزانية العادية على نحو ما دعا اليه المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي في قراريه ١٩٩٢/٥١ المؤرخ ٣١ تموز/يوليه ١٩٩٢، و ١٩٩٣/٦٨ المؤرخ ٣٠ تموز/يوليه ١٩٩٣؛

The General Assembly decides to endorse Economic and Social Council resolution 1993/68 of 30 July 1993, entitled " African Institute for Economic Development and Planning " , and agrees, in considering the proposed programme budget for the Economic Commission for Africa for the biennium 1994-1995, to take adequate steps to ensure sufficient staffing for the Commission at the Professional level to implement its mandates.
تقرر الجمعية العامة تأييد قرار المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي ١٩٩٣/٦٨ المؤرخ ٣٠ تموز/يوليه ١٩٩٣، المعنون " المعهد الافريقي للتنمية الاقتصادية والتخطيط " . وتوافق على أن تتخذ، لدى النظر في الميزانية البرنامجية المقترحة للجنة الاقتصادية لافريقيا لفترة السنتين ١٩٩٤-١٩٩٥، خطوات مناسبة لضمان توفير موظفين من الفئة الفنية إلى اللجنة بما يكفي لتنفيذ ولاياتها.

Recommendation No. 5: It should be proposed to the UNDP Governing Council that Member States of the African region pay their assessed contributions to IDEP from their indicative planning figures (IPFs).
التوصية رقم ٥: ينبغي أن يقترح على مجلس ادارة برنامج اﻷمم المتحدة الانمائي أن تدفع البلدان اﻷعضاء في المنطقة الافريقية اشتراكاتها في المعهد الافريقي للتنمية الاقتصادية والتخطيط من أرقام التخطيط الارشادية الخاصة بها.

This subject has not featured in the deliberations on IDEP in relevant policy-making bodies such as the General Assembly, its Main Committees or its subsidiary organs.
٤٥ - لم يطرح هذا الموضوع في المداولات التي جرت بشأن المعهد الافريقي للتنمية الاقتصادية والتخطيط في هيئات تقرير السياسة ذات الصلة مثل الجمعية العامة أو لجانها الرئيسية أو هيئاتها الفرعية.
