His country was pleased that 143 States were parties to the Ottawa Convention on the prohibition of anti-personnel mines and that the First Review Conference, to be held in Nairobi in November 2004, would provide an opportunity to assess progress, clarify challenges and establish a concrete action plan with clear priorities and reasonable time frames for the fulfilment of the aims of the convention.
