Before closing this section dealing with female genital mutilation, which gives a brief review of some of the most recent initiatives in this area, the Special Rapporteur would like to mention two interesting features: firstly, the keenness of young people to combat harmful traditional practices, and secondly, the mail she has received concerning male circumcision.

While welcoming the enactment of the Prohibition of Female Genital Mutilation Act, 2011 and the adoption of a National Policy for the abandonment of female genital mutilation (FGM), the Committee is still concerned at the prevalence of female genital mutilation and other harmful traditional practices such as " wife inheritance " and " ritual cleansing " in various parts of the State party.
15- وبينما ترحب اللجنة بسن قانون حظر تشويه الأعضاء التناسلية الأنثوية في عام 2011 وباعتماد سياسة وطنية لنبذ عادة تشويه الأعضاء التناسلية الأنثوية، فإنها لا تزال تشعر بالقلق إزاء شيوع هذه العادة وغيرها من الممارسات التقليدية الضارة من قبيل " إرث الزوجات " و " طقوس التطهير " في مختلف أرجاء الدولة الطرف.

(b) Address harmful traditional practices such as female genital mutilation, forced and early marriage, levirate, sororate, polygamy and the granting of all decision-making power to men within the family, by expanding public education programmes and effectively enforcing the laws prohibiting such practices, in particular in rural areas;
(ب) معالجة الممارسات التقليدية الضارة من قبيل تشويه الأعضاء التناسلية، والزواج القسري والمبكر، وزواج الأخ من أرملة أخيه، وزواج الأخت من أرمل أختها، وتعدد الزوجات، ومنح الرجل سلطة القرار المطلقة داخل الأسرة، من خلال توسيع نطاق برامج التثقيف العامة وإنفاذ القوانين التي تحظر هذه الممارسات، على نحو فعال، ولا سيما في المناطق الريفية؛
