It also assisted the World Meteorological Organization in bringing together experts at a workshop on climate and land degradation that was held in the United Republic of Tanzania in December 2006.
كما ساعدت الأمانة المنظمة العالمية للأرصاد الجوية على جمع خبراء في حلقة عمل بشأن المناخ وتردي الأراضي عُقدت في جمهورية تنزانيا المتحدة في كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2006.

At an international workshop on climate and land degradation in Arusha, United Republic of Tanzania, in December 2006, experts in the area of climate and land degradation noted that trends in land degradation are assessed differently in various parts of the world.
في إطار حلقة عمل دولية معنية بالمناخ وتردي الأراضي عُقدت في أروشا بجمهورية تنزانيا المتحدة، في كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2006، أوضح خبراء في مجال المناخ وتردي الأراضي أن الاتجاهات المتعلقة بتردي الأراضي تُقيّم على نحو مختلف في مناطق شتى من العالم.

By its decision 20/COP.7, the Conference of Parties welcomed the offer of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) to organize and find the necessary funding for an international workshop on climate and land degradation in 2006 to mark the International Year of Desert and Desertification (IYDD).
أولاً - مقدمة 1- رحّب مؤتمر الأطراف، في مقرره 20/م أ-7، بعرض المنظمة العالمية للأرصاد الجوية تنظيمَ حلقة عمل دولية بشأن المناخ وتردي الأراضي في عام 2006، احتفالاً بالسنة الدولية للصحارى والتصحر، وإيجادَ التمويل اللازم للحلقة.

Welcoming also the process and outcome of the World Meteorological Organization international workshop on climate and land degradation held in Arusha, United Republic of Tanzania, in 2006, and noting that it provides a useful organizational model to enable the CST to achieve the goal of being a global authority on scientific and technical knowledge on combating desertification/land degradation and mitigating the effects of drought,
وإذ يرحب أيضاً بأعمال ونتائج حلقة العمل الدولية التي أقامتها المنظمة العالمية للأرصاد الجوية بشأن المناخ وتردي الأراضي في أروشا، بجمهورية تنزانيا المتحدة، في عام 2006، وإذ يلاحظ أنها توفر نموذجاً تنظيمياً مفيداً لتمكين لجنة العلم والتكنولوجيا من تحقيق الهدف المتمثل في أن تكون مرجعاً عالمياً للمعارف العلمية والتقنية المتعلقة بمكافحة التصحر/تردي الأراضي والتخفيف من آثار الجفاف،

Welcomes the offer of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) to organize and find the necessary funding for an international workshop on climate and land degradation in 2006 to mark the IYDD, and invites the CST to assist the WMO in bringing together experts for the workshop and to present the workshop's results to the COP at its eighth session;
2- يرحب بعرض المنظمة العالمية للأرصاد الجوية المتعلق بتنظيم حلقة عمل دولية بشأن المناخ وتردي الأراضي في عام 2006 احتفالاً بالسنة الدولية للصحارى ومكافحة التصحر وبإيجاد التمويل اللازم للحلقة، ويدعو لجنة العلم والتكنولوجيا إلى مساعدة المنظمة العالمية للأرصاد الجوية في جمع الخبراء لهذه الحلقة وإلى عرض نتائج الحلقة على مؤتمر الأطراف في دورته الثامنة؛

Given the UNCCD definition of desertification, which cites climatic variations as one of the factors leading to land degradation and subsequent desertification, an International Workshop on climate and land degradation was organized by WMO, the UNCCD and the Tanzania Meteorological Agency in Tanzania in December 2006.
6- وحيث إن تعريف التصحر الوارد في اتفاقية مكافحة التصحر يورد التباينات المناخية كأحد العوامل المؤدية إلى تردي الأراضي وما يتبعها من تصحر، نظمت المنظمة العالمية للأرصاد الجوية واتفاقية مكافحة التصحر ووكالة الأرصاد الجوية في تنزانيا حلقة عمل دولية بشأن المناخ وتردي الأراضي في كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2006 بتنزانيا.
