3. That vision, enshrined in the Millennium Declaration (General Assembly resolution 55/2) and rooted in the Charter of the United Nations, recognized the need to pool efforts as never before and to advance on three fronts simultaneously: development, peace and security, and human rights.

56. The commitments set forth in the Millennium Declaration as well as the reform agenda of the Secretary-General help the organization to address the urgent needs of the most vulnerable groups, get measurable results, and make the best use of available resources.

First of all, the report notes measures aimed at accelerating progress in the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals, which were set forth in the Millennium Declaration (resolution 55/2).

We must work wisely to design and implement concrete, effective and efficient measures to meet the commitments laid down in the Millennium Declaration.

To that end, the full and constant co-operation of Member States and the Secretariat is essential.
