During the 2008-2009 biennium, senior management is responsible for defining the direction of UNDP, providing leadership to strengthen organizational results in development and management, and supporting the operational activities of the United Nations system, as outlined in the strategic plan.

Against this background, the consensus reached at the UNFPA senior managers meeting -- that staff and management are accountable for organizational results -- is particularly important as it reinforces (a) the obligation of all staff members, irrespective of grade levels, to adhere to the highest ethical standards; and (b) the responsibility of heads of offices to proactively monitor adherence to these standards.
