The objective of the guidance document is to provide information on how best to manage used and end-of-life mobile phones from the time they are collected up to and including their refurbishment, material recovery or recycling.

4.2 Recommendations Project group 2.1 put forward a number of recommendations dealing with transboundary movement of used and end-of-life mobile phones, as follows:

The Mobile Phone Partnership Initiative has successfully completed the first phase of its work by preparing guidelines on used and end-of-life mobile phones.
16 - وقد أكملت مبادرة الشراكة بشأن الهواتف النقالة المرحلة الأولى من عملها بنجاح وذلك بإعداد مبادئ توجيهية بشأن الهواتف النقالة المستعملة والهالكة.

1. Adopts the guidance document on environmentally sound management of used and end-of-life mobile phones as set forth in document UNEP/CHW.8/2/Add.3* and the recommendations contained therein;

Certain issues associated with the transboundary movement of used and endoflife mobile phones required further deliberation, which would continue in project group 2.1.

The guidance document, together with the Mobile Phone Partnership Initiative guidelines, is designed to help raise awareness and further the implementation of best practices associated with the different stages of the environmentally sound management of used and endoflife mobile phones.
