The State party acknowledges the existence of traditional patriarchal attitudes and gender stereotypes that contribute to gender discrimination and reinforce stereotypical images of the role of women and men in the family and in society (paras. 32, 36-37, 46 and 70; HRI/CORE/TUV/2012, paras. 10, 62 and 64).
