12.2 On 3 April 2013, the Lebanese parliament's administration and justice committee gave its consent to a proposed law to create an independent body to be called the National Human Rights Commission, enjoying corporate identity and administrative and financial independence. The commission is to have a permanent committee known as the committee on the prevention of torture.

Numerous training workshops on the prevention of torture. One workshop was held on 15 and 16 April 2014 in cooperation with the Association against Torture that encompassed key guidelines for monitoring places of detention and best practices in the area of concern, and the stakes raised in the context of detention by the gap between security requirements and the principle of respect for the human dignity of detainees.

:: A workshop was given on " Protection from, and the Criminalization of, Torture under the United Nations Convention against Torture " during 67 April 2009 to introduce torture crimes to law enforcement officers and employees of relevant civil society organizations. The workshop was given in cooperation with the Association for the prevention of torture and Amnesty International.
