12. At the 2nd meeting, on 7 February, the Council had before it a letter dated 16 December 1996 from the Chairman of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs to the President of the Council (E/1997/10), which contained a draft decision for consideration by the Council.
١٢ - في الجلسة ٢، المعقودة في ٧ شباط/فبراير، كان معروضا على المجلس رسالة مؤرخة ١٦ كانون اﻷول/ ديسمبر ١٩٩٦ موجهة الى رئيس المجلس من رئيس لجنة المخدرات (E/1997/10)، تتضمن مشروع مقرر لينظر فيه المجلس.

The Security Council resumed its consideration of the item at its 3647th meeting, held on 4 April 1996 in accordance with the understanding reached in its prior consultations, having before it the report of the Secretary-General pursuant to Security Council resolution 1035 (1995) (S/1996/210) and the letter dated 13 March 1996 from the Secretary-General addressed to the President of the Council (S/1996/190).

2. A candidate for the post of Director-General shall be nominated in writing by his/her Government to the President of the Board.
