Mr. Andjaba (Namibia), speaking on behalf of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), said that the countries members of the Community had taken note of the report entitled “Progress on the implementation of the World Declaration and Plan of Action from the World Summit for Children” (A/53/186).

That will lead to peace and stability in the region. Mr. Andjaba (Namibia): I wish to thank you, Mr. President, for convening this resumed tenth emergency special session to consider the issue of illegal Israeli actions in occupied East Jerusalem and the rest of the occupied Palestinian territory.

Mr. Andjaba (Namibia): My delegation would like to express its appreciation to the President for convening the resumed tenth emergency special session of the General Assembly to consider the grave situation in the occupied Palestinian territory.
السيد اندجابا (ناميبيا) (تكلم بالانكليزية): يود وفدي أن يعرب عن تقديره للرئيس على عقد الدورة الاستثنائية الطارئة العاشرة المستأنفة للجمعية العامة لكي تنظر في الحالة الخطيرة في الأراضي الفلسطينية المحتلة.

Mr. Andjaba (Namibia) said that his country attached great importance to the question of drought and desertification, since it consisted for the most part of arid lands, and its variable climate and low levels of rainfall often resulted in severe drought. The natural process of desertification was accelerated by other problems, such as unviable agricultural practices and generalized poverty among the rural population.
٩٢ - السيد اندجابا )ناميبيا(: أوضح أن بلده يعلق أهمية كبيرة على مسألة الجفاف والتصحر نظرا ﻷن معظمه يتألف من أراض قاحلة، وكثيرا ما ينجم عن المناخ المتقلب ومعدلات سقوط المطر المنخفضة جفاف شديد وتؤدي مشاكل أخرى من قبيل ممارسات الزراعة غير السليمة إلى انتشار الفقر عموما بين سكان المناطق الريفية وإلى التعجيل بعملية التصحر الطبيعية.

Mr. Andjaba (Namibia): In his report contained in document A/58/136 the Secretary-General reveals that, in 2005 -- when we review the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals -- he, in close collaboration with the Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO), will present to the august Assembly a progress report on the targets of the Decade to Roll Back Malaria in Developing Countries, particularly in Africa.
