In particular, the Division will continue to develop the United Nations Economic and Social Information System (UNESIS) in cooperation with the regional commissions. UNESIS is an information system encompassing data collection, processing, storage, exchange and dissemination of economic and social information to users for policy-making purposes.

The agenda item entitled “United Nations Economic and Social Information System” was added to the provisional agenda for the present session of the Statistical Commission by the Commission’s Working Group on International Statistical Programmes and Coordination, which requested the present progress report.
