With regard to UNIDO activities in countries emerging from crisis situations, his delegation appreciated the Organization's efforts to follow up General Conference resolution GC.10/Res.6 and welcomed in particular its needs assessments and programme formulation missions.

In its resolution GC.10/Res.6 (8), the General Conference requested the Director General to submit a short progress report on the developments and steps taken with regard to UNIDO activities in countries emerging from crisis situations to the twenty-ninth session of the Board.

With regard to UNIDO activities in countries emerging from crisis situations, his Government fully supported the Organization's special initiative on post-crisis industrial rehabilitation and reconstruction and welcomed the approval of US$ 385,000 for the programme.

69. Many issues relating to UNIDO activities in countries emerging from crisis situations remained to be debated, and the Secretariat would be responding to the concerns expressed by the EU about apparent inconsistencies in its approach to that subject.
69- واستطرد قائلا إن هناك مسائل كثيرة تتصل بأنشطة اليونيدو في البلدان الخارجة من أوضاع متأزّمة ما زال يتعين مناقشتها، وسوف تستجيب الأمانة للشواغل التي أعرب عنها الاتحاد الأوروبي حول وجود مفارقات لافتة للنظر في نهجها تجاه ذلك الموضوع.

His delegation also welcomed UNIDO's activities in promotion and support of the industrial strategies and initiatives of the New Partnership for Africa's Development, its emphasis on the implementation of the African Productive Capacity Initiative and its proactive approach in supporting the sectoral initiatives of African Governments and preparing sectoral plans and road maps for some regions.
