The Subcommittee requested the Office for Outer Space Affairs to prepare a report to the Subcommittee at its fortieth session on considerations relating to the possibility of the United Nations serving as supervisory authority under the protocol.

The Legal Subcommittee had before it the report of the Secretariat on the Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment (opened for signature in Cape Town on 16 November 2001) and its preliminary draft protocol on matters specific to space assets: considerations relating to the possibility of the United Nations serving as supervisory authority under the protocol (A/AC.105/C.2/L.238).
106- وكان معروضا على اللجنة الفرعية القانونية تقرير الأمانة عن اتفاقية الضمانات الدولية على المعدات المنقولة (3)(التي فُتح باب التوقيع عليها في كيب تاون في 16 تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر 2001) والمشروع الأولي لبروتوكولها المتعلق بالمسائل التي تخص الموجودات الفضائية: الاعتبارات المتعلقة بإمكانية قيام الأمم المتحدة بدور السلطة الإشرافية بمقتضى البروتوكول (A/AC.105/C.2/L.238).

4- وكان معروضا على الفريق العامل تقرير الأمانة عن اتفاقية الضمانات الدولية على المعدات المنقولة(أ) (التي فُتح باب التوقيع عليها في كيب تاون في 16 تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر 2001) والمشروع الأولي لبروتوكولها المتعلق بالمسائل التي تخص الموجودات الفضائية: الاعتبارات المتعلقة بإمكانية قيام الأمم المتحدة بدور السلطة الإشرافية بمقتضى البروتوكول (A/AC.105/C.2/L.238).

In its resolutions 57/116 of 11 December 2002, 58/89 of 9 December 2003 and 59/116 of 10 December 2004, the Assembly renewed its endorsement, while identifying two specific issues for discussion, including considerations relating to the possibility of the United Nations serving as supervisory authority under the preliminary draft protocol.
ثم في قراراتها 57/116 المؤرخ 11 كانــون الأول/ديسمبر 2002، و58/89 المــؤرخ 9 كانــون الأول/ديسمبــر 2003، و 59/116 المؤرخ 10 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2004، جدّدت الجمعية العامة تأييدها لتلك التوصية، مع تحديد مسألتين معيّنتين للمناقشة، بما فيهما مسألة " الاعتبارات المتصلة بإمكانية قيام الأمم المتحدة بمهام السلطة الإشرافية بمقتضى المشروع الأولي للبروتوكول " .

In accordance with resolution 57/116, the Subcommittee considered two sub-items under this agenda item: " (a) Considerations relating to the possibility of the United Nations serving as supervisory authority under the preliminary draft protocol " ; and " (b) Considerations relating to the relationship between the terms of the preliminary draft protocol and the rights and obligations of States under the legal regime applicable to outer space " .
ووفقــا لذلــك القــرار 57/116، نظرت اللجنة الفرعية في بندين فرعيين في إطار هذا البند من جدول الأعمال: " (أ) الاعتبارات المتعلقة بإمكانية قيام الأمم المتحدة بدور السلطة الإشرافية بمقتضى المشروع الأولي للبروتوكول " ؛ و " (ب) الاعتبارات المتعلقة بالصلة بين أحكام المشروع الأولي للبروتوكول وحقوق وواجبات الدول بمقتضى القواعد القانونية المطبّقة على الفضاء الخارجي " .
