ROCA played a key role in advocacy and raising awareness of the Optional Protocol to the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment and its implementation, and provided expert advice on the draft law on the national mechanism for the prevention of torture, through the engagement of a national legal consultant.
24- وأدى المكتب الإقليمي دوراً رئيسياً في الدعوة وزيادة الوعي فيما يتعلق بالبروتوكول الاختياري لاتفاقية مناهضة التعذيب وغيره من ضروب المعاملة أو العقوبة القاسية أو اللاإنسانية أو المهينة وتنفيذه، وقدم مشورة الخبراء بشأن مشروع القانون المتعلق بالآلية الوطنية لمنع التعذيب، من خلال توظيف مستشار قانوني وطني.

In September 2011 the National Chamber of Deputies approved the bill on a national mechanism for the prevention of torture.
