Belarus supports the continuation of the efforts of the Open-ended Working Group on the question of equitable representation on and Increase in the Membership of the Security Council and Other Matters Related to the Security Council to find the best possible and a generally acceptable formula for the qualitative reform of the Security Council and the number of its members.

The General Assembly, having considered the report of the Open-ended Working Group on the question of equitable representation on and Increase in the Membership of the Security Council and Other Matters Related to the Security Council,5 established pursuant to its resolution 48/26 of 3 December 1993:
إن الجمعية العامة، وقد نظرت في التقرير عن أعمال الفريق العامل المعني بالتمثيل العادل في مجلس اﻷمن وزيادة عدد أعضائه وبالمسائل اﻷخرى المتصلة بمجلس اﻷمن)٥(، المنشأ عملا بقرار الجمعية العامة ٤٨/٢٦ المؤرخ ٣ كانون اﻷول/ديسمبر ١٩٩٣،

(c) Also decides that the question of equitable representation on and Increase in the Membership of the Security Council and Other Matters Related to the Security Council should be considered during the fifty-fifth session of the General Assembly, and that the modalities for the continued work of the Open-ended Working Group be determined at that time. "

I should like to express our hope for fruitful cooperation among States Members of the United Nations during the current session of the General Assembly in the search for mutually acceptable solutions to the fundamental issues relating to equitable representation in the Security Council, expansion of its membership and the other issues relating to the Security Council.
