182. Plan of action: The Special Rapporteur is concerned that, although the Government indicated that it is undertaking several initiatives, many of which arose out of the Interdepartmental Working Party on domestic violence in 1994, the lack of a national plan may result in a lack of coordination and, in some cases, conflicting or incoherent policy.

The Committee commends the State party for the establishment of (a) special courts on domestic violence in Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula, in 2007; (b) the National Women's Institute, as the national machinery for the advancement of women, in 1999; and (c) the Special Public Prosecutor's Office for Women, in 1994.

Other recent legal developments included the entry into force of the Domestic Violence Law in 2007 and the passing of secondary legislation on domestic violence in 2008.
