5. Algeria has chosen to promote research into the peaceful uses of nuclear energy. Accordingly, it has acceded to the NPT and concluded in March 1996 a comprehensive safeguards agreement under which all its nuclear activities are subject to IAEA inspection in accordance with article II of the Treaty.
5 - ولما اختارت الجزائر تعزيز تطوير البحوث من أجل استخدام الطاقة النووية في الأغراض السلمية، انضمت إلى معاهدة عدم الانتشار التزاما منها بأحكام تلك الاتفاقية، وأبرمت في آذار/مارس 1996 اتفاقا للضمانات الشاملة تخضع بموجبه جميع أنشطتها النووية للمراقبة عملا بالمادة الثانية من معاهدة عدم الانتشار.

It was also felt that the inclusion of such explanatory wording might be reconsidered in the context of paragraph (3) and of the interpretative instrument regarding article II (2) of the New York Convention.
