A. Enhancing the cooperation and coordination of the chemicals and hazardous wastes-related agenda

(e) Promote efforts to prevent international illegal trafficking of hazardous chemicals and hazardous wastes and to prevent damage resulting from the transboundary movement and disposal of hazardous wastes in a manner consistent with obligations under relevant international instruments, such as the Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes and Their Disposal;

Subprogramme support will cover data collection, the assessment and management of chemicals, the implementation of scientifically designed hazardous waste management systems and the strengthening of chemical and hazardous waste legislation and regulatory frameworks.

Encourages the use of the Basel Convention regional centres for capacity-building in the implementation of international environmental agreements relevant to chemicals and hazardous wastes, and in the implementation of the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management;
تشجع على استخدام المراكز الإقليمية لاتفاقية بازل لبناء القدرات من أجل تنفيذ الاتفاقيات البيئية الدولية ذات الصلة بالمواد الكيميائية والنفايات الخطرة وكذلك تنفيذ نهج استراتيجي للإدارة الدولية للمواد الكيميائية؛

A number of challenges stand in the way of efforts further to enhance the cooperation and coordination of the chemicals and hazardous wastes-related agenda at the national, regional and global levels and to regulate chemicals and hazardous wastes.
