In that regard, in consideration of the multifaceted issues that the Secretary-General, currently Mr. Ban Ki-moon, is requested to deal with, my delegation shares the view that the process of selecting and appointing the Secretary-General differs from that used with regard to other executive heads in the United Nations system, given the role of the Security Council, in accordance with Article 97 of the Charter.
وفي ذلك الصدد، نظرا للمسائل المتعددة الأوجه التي يطلب من الأمين العام، وهو حاليا السيد بان كي - مون، التعامل معها، يشارك وفد بلدي الرأي القائل إن عملية اختيار وتعيين الأمين العام تختلف عن العملية المستخدمة في اختيار الرؤساء التنفيذيين الآخرين في منظومة الأمم المتحدة، بالنظر إلى دور مجلس الأمن، وفقا للمادة 97 من الميثاق.
