It supported the intention of the Bonn Convention Secretariat to rapidly revise the draft Agreement on the Conservation of Small Cetaceans of the Mediterranean and Black Seas and Contiguous Waters (ASCOMABS) and provide further opportunities for this issue to be discussed.

It has supported the Agreement on the Conservation of Small Cetaceans of the Baltic and North Seas by funding research on porpoises in the Baltic Sea.

It has cooperated with FAO and the secretariats of the Agreement on the Conservation of Small Cetaceans of the Baltic and North Seas and the Agreement on the Conservation of Cetaceans of the Black Sea, the Mediterranean Sea and Contiguous Atlantic Area, in addition to general calls to States to take measures to reduce by-catch.
وتعاونت اللجنة مع منظمة الأغذية والزراعة ومع أمانة الاتفاق المتعلق بحفظ الحيتانيات الصغيرة في بحر البلطيق وبحر الشمال ومع أمانة الاتفاق المتعلق بحفظ الحيتانيات في البحر الأسود والبحر الأبيض المتوسط والمنطقة المتاخمة من المحيط الأطلسي، فضلا عن مشاركتها في المناشدات العامة للدول لكي تتخذ تدابير لتقليص المصيد العرضي.

In this respect, implementation of the regional agreements concluded under the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals, such as the Agreement on the Conservation of Cetaceans of the Black Sea, Mediterranean Sea and Contiguous Atlantic Area and the Agreement on the Conservation of Small Cetaceans of the Baltic and North Seas, is crucial.

At its seventeenth meeting, the Advisory Committee of the Agreement on the Conservation of Small Cetaceans of the Baltic, North East Atlantic, Irish and North Seas established an open-ended intersessional working group on noise, the terms of reference of which were revised at the eighteenth meeting of the Committee, in May 2011.
210 - أنشأت اللجنة الاستشارية المعنية بالاتفاق المتعلق بحفظ الحيتانيات الصغيرة في بحر البلطيق وشمال شرق المحيط الأطلسي والبحر الأيرلندي وبحر الشمال، في اجتماعها السابع عشر، فريقا عاملا بين الدورات مفتوح باب العضوية معنيا بالضوضاء()، جرى تنقيح اختصاصاته في الاجتماع الثامن عشر للجنة المعقود في أيار/مايو 2011().

The Commission is working with a number of other relevant organizations on this issue, including IMO, the Agreement on the Conservation of Cetaceans of the Black Sea, Mediterranean Sea and Contiguous Atlantic Areas (ACCOBAMS) and the Agreement on the Conservation of Small Cetaceans of the Baltic, North East Atlantic, Irish and North Seas (ASCOBANS) (see also paras. 63, 145 and 193 of the present report).

As at 3 February 2008, the Agreement on the Conservation of Small Cetaceans of the Baltic and North Seas (ASCOBANS) is also applicable to the North East Atlantic and the Irish Sea, as also reflected in its new name (Agreement on the Conservation of Small Cetaceans of the Baltic, North East Atlantic, Irish and North Seas; see also A/62/66/Add.1, para. 149).

113. The secretariats of the Convention on Migratory Species of Wild Animals, the Agreement on the Conservation of Small Cetaceans of the Baltic, North East Atlantic, Irish and North Seas and the Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the North-East Atlantic (OSPAR Convention) are currently investigating the development of a common set of guidelines for noise mitigation.
