It also requests the State party to raise the awareness of women about their rights under the Convention and to build the capacity of women to claim their rights under the existing institutions.

Perhaps women were able to obtain local remedies for alleged violations of their rights, obviating the need to approach the Committee, but it was also possible that the cost of court proceedings or lack of awareness of their rights under the Convention militated against their seeking redress.

Given their important role in laying the foundation for the new society, such mechanisms represent a unique opportunity for State parties to lay the ground towards the achievement of substantive gender equality by addressing pre-existing and entrenched sex and gender-based discrimination that had impeded women's enjoyment of their rights under the Convention.

Bearing in mind its general recommendation No. 25 (2000) on gender-related dimensions of racial discrimination, the Committee recommends that the State party provide data on difficulties experienced by Sinti and Roma women as well as migrant women, and that it provide information on measures taken to guarantee to these women equal enjoyment of their rights under the Convention.
توصي اللجنة الدولة الطرف، واضعة في الاعتبار توصيتها العامة رقم 25(2000) بشأن أبعاد التمييز العنصري المتعلقة بنوع الجنس، بتقديم بيانات عن مختلف الصعوبات التي تواجهها المرأة في جماعتي السنتي والروما وكذلك المرأة المهاجرة، وأن تقدم معلومات عن التدابير المتخذة لضمان تمتع المرأة في هاتين الجماعتين على قدم المساواة مع الغير بحقوقها بموجب الاتفاقية.

500. The Committee is concerned about reports relating to activities, such as nuclear testing, toxic and dangerous waste storage, mining or logging, carried out or planned in areas of spiritual and cultural significance to Native Americans, and about the negative impact that such activities allegedly have on the enjoyment by the affected indigenous peoples of their rights under the Convention (arts. 5 (d) (v), 5 (e) (iv) and 5 (e) (vi)).

(c) Enhance women's awareness of their rights under the Convention and of means of access to justice at the national and local levels for women claiming violations of their rights under the Convention, and also ensure that information on the Convention is provided for women in all parts of the State party, including through the use of information campaigns and the media;
