The publication of The Least Developed Countries Report and other research and policy analysis outputs of the secretariat should not be viewed as an end in itself but rather as a means towards the ultimate objective of building national policy-making capacities and international consensus.
38- وينبغي ألا يُنظَر إلى تقرير أقل البلدان نمواً وغيره من نتائج ما تجريه الأمانة من بحوث وتحليل للسياسات على أنها غاية في حد ذاتها، بل وسيلة لبلوغ الهدف النهائي المتمثل في بناء القدرات الوطنية لرسم السياسات وتوافق الآراء الدولي.

The outcome of these events combined with long-standing research and policy analysis work of the secretariat, greatly contributed to advancing the trade and development interests of LDCs and in building consensus on how to address the development challenges facing them.

This report examined the depth and extent of the external indebtedness of African countries in the light of the Millennium Development Goals.
