The subprogramme will be delivered through regional cooperation mechanisms, including the Regional Space Applications Programme for Sustainable Development and the Regional Cooperative Mechanism for Drought Monitoring and Early Warning, and through the implementation of the Asia-Pacific Plan of Action for Applications of Space Technology and the Geographic Information System for Disaster Risk Reduction and Sustainable Development, 2012-2017.

The Commission invited member States to make use of programmes offered by the Centre for Space Science and Technology Education in Asia and the Pacific for capacity-building in space technologies and the Geographic Information System, and called for continued support to activities under the Regional Space Applications Programme for Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific in promoting space technology applications.

In particular, when tropical cyclones, earthquakes, serious floods and typhoon Haiyan hit Bangladesh, China, Pakistan, the Philippines and other countries in the region, ESCAP immediately mobilized near-real-time satellite imagery through the network of space agencies within the Regional Space Applications Programme for Sustainable Development, at the onset of each disaster, upon receiving requests for support from the affected countries.
19- وقد سارعت الإسكاب، على الخصوص عندما ضربت الأعاصير المدارية والزلازل والفيضانات الهائلة والإعصار هايان كلاًّ من باكستان وبنغلاديش والصين والفلبين وبلداناً أخرى من المنطقة، إلى توفير صور ساتلية بصورة شبه آنيّة، من خلال شبكة الوكالات الفضائية العاملة ضمن برنامج التطبيقات الفضائية الإقليمي من أجل التنمية المستدامة، وذلك فور حدوث كل كارثة من تلك الكوارث، لدى تلقّيها طلبات دعم من البلدان المتأثرة.

UN-SPIDER was invited to attend the Intergovernmental Consultative Committee meeting at the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, in Bangkok, from 26 to 29 November 2013, which reviewed the progress of the Regional Space Applications Programme for Sustainable Development during the period 2012-2013 and developed the workplan for 2014-2015.
٤٠- ودُعي برنامج سبايدر إلى حضور اجتماع اللجنة الاستشارية الحكومية الدولية في اللجنة الاقتصادية والاجتماعية لآسيا والمحيط الهادئ، وذلك في الفترة من 26 إلى 29 تشرين الثاني/ نوفمبر 2013، والذي استعرض التقدُّم المحرز في برنامج التطبيقات الفضائية الإقليمي من أجل التنمية المستدامة خلال الفترة 2012-2013، ووضع خطة العمل للفترة 2014-2015.

The subprogramme on information, communication and space technology of ESCAP will continue the implementation of the second phase of the Regional Space Applications Programme for Sustainable Development (RESAP II). The status and the state of RESAP II will be evaluated at the third Ministerial Conference on Space Applications for Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific, scheduled for 2007.
12- وسيواصل البرنامج الفرعي المعني بالمعلومات والاتصال وتكنولوجيا الفضاء، التابع للجنة الاقتصادية والاجتماعية لآسيا والمحيط الهادئ، تنفيذ المرحلة الثانية من برنامج التطبيقات الفضائية الإقليمي من أجل التنمية المستدامة. وسيجري تقييم وضع هذا البرنامج وحالته الراهنة خلال المؤتمر الوزاري الثالث المعني بالتطبيقات الفضائية لأغراض التنمية المستدامة في منطقة آسيا والمحيط الهادئ المقرر انعقاده في عام 2007.
