UNHCR continues to pursue its objectives with regard to refugee children in close coordination with the rest of the United Nations system and other interested bodies; for example, a joint statement on evacuation of unaccompanied children from Rwanda was issued in June 1994 together with UNICEF, ICRC and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

22. UNHCR policy states that, " In all actions taken concerning refugee children, the human rights of the child, in particular his or her best interest, are to be given primary consideration " .
